Friday 9th September '22 - Welcome Back Year 3/4

Dear Parents,

A huge welcome to you if you are joining us here in Year 3/4 and a big hello if you were with us last year! The children have had a very busy week and have all settled in well to their new classes. It is so great to see the children smiling when they are coming into school each day.

YEAR 3/4 PARENT OVERVIEW MEETING
We will be conducting a Parent Overview Meeting next Tuesday 13th September at 2.30pm in Moonstone class. We hope to see you all there!

HOMEWORK AND GOOGLE CLASSROOM

Google Classroom is an essential part of your child's learning journey here at Down Hall. It is a place where the children can access their homework as well as sharing any learning that they have been doing at home. This week we have set homework on Google Classroom. Your child will need to access their homework from Google Classroom. They have been shown how to do this in class.

Go on to the Down Hall Primary School Website

https://www.downhallprimary.com/

It will take you to the it ask you to sign in to your child's Google account. Once you are logged in it will take you to the Learning Hub. You will need to click on the Classroom icon. Then you should have access to the Year 3/4 Google Classroom 2022-23. Here you will find this week's homework tasks. Very soon, your child will be bringing home homework books.

Year 3/4  Homework Tasks - Friday 9th September     Due: Thursday 15th September

Must Do

  • Reading: Remember 15-20 minutes reading to an adult at least 3 times per week and then discuss the text afterwards, asking for opinions, favourite part or questioning what happened so as to ensure that your child is understanding the text as well as reading it. Shortly, you will be able to take a Reading Record home for your parents to comment on. These will be collected by teachers and checked from time to time.

  • High Frequency Words - Learn the words specific to your year Group. Practice spelling them out loud and writing them down. The year 3/4 spellings are located in your child's reading record book.

  • Times table practice - next week we are looking at 2’s. Show your parents how we learn our times tables now at Down Hall Primary School.

Can Do

  • Design a front cover for our new times table books. The winning entry will be displayed on each book. You can draw it or do it on the computer. Good luck!
  • Practise writing out numbers in words up to 50. For example: 1 - one   2 - two  3 - three  etc…

Remember, you can either type out your homework on a Google document and share it with your teacher or handwrite neatly onto paper and bring it into school.

Please ask for help if you are unsure!
