Y3/4 Blog Monday 20th July 2020

Dear All,
Well we have nearly reached the end of the school year and we are definitely feeling a very wide range of emotions. It has been so different to how we imagined our year but hopefully you have managed to spend more time with your family and create some lovely memories.
From your comments we can see that you enjoyed your home learning experience and some of you even thought of it as an adventure!  However, we know that it is no substitute for being here at school. I look forward to welcoming you back in to school in September.
Thank you for all your hard work and lovely comments on our Google Classroom.
May I take this opportunity to wish you and your precious family and friends a lovely Summer holiday. Keep safe, stay well and see you all soon.
Lots of love and hugs,
Mrs Hurley x

Dear All,
I would like to start by expressing my pride in the work that I have seen many of you complete during this tough time. I have seen many of you have logged in to Sumdog, MyOn and TTRs as well as Google Classroom which has been excellent to see. For all of you that have emailed your work, I have really enjoyed reading and seeing all the things that you have been doing. Remember you can always email me and I will respond when I am able to.
I am sorry that we were not able to meet again before September but unfortunately this was out of our control. I have always been very proud of this Year group and continue to be during this difficult period. I hope you all have an excellent Summer holiday from next week and I look forward to seeing you again in September.
Mr Greenfield

Dear all
What an interesting year it has been! No one could predict a worldwide pandemic and the impact it would have on our school life. I feel that everyone has dealt with this amazingly and the work we have seen from you at home and the positive attitude the children in school have shown throughout this time has been astounding. We all had plans for this year and unfortunately our planned lessons didn’t work out how we wanted them to but we hope that you haven managed to access the curriculum as much as you could at this time.

It is a blessing that I can have Garnet class back together again for the first few weeks so we can bring our year to a close and say goodbye properly. I just want to finish by saying thank you. Thank you for carrying on when work was tough, thank you for making me want to come into work every day to see all your lovely faces and thank you for listening to my Harry Potter quotes all day!

Have a fantastic Summer and I look forward to seeing you in September!

Love Miss Harvey x

Y3/4 Blog Monday 13th July 2020

Dear All
A warm welcome to Week 17 and the last full week of school for 2019/20. Today marks the last day of our official blog and Home Learning Tasks with which you have all done so well. Thank you for your contributions and massive efforts. A big shout out to all the mums and dads who have coped so remarkably in this unusual set of circumstances that we have all found ourselves in!
This week we have provided the children with some assessments to complete and the marking schedules should they wish to self-mark and see how they got on. This work is by no means compulsory. So please do not feel that you need to do all of it!
Hopefully you have seen the updated information for September that was published this week. If you haven't, it can be found here https://drive.google.com/file/d/11PcgCN1AbnPaoBuegpkosh69y1znh4fq/view
If you have any queries about September, or indeed anything else, please feel free to email us at:

Have a great week folks,
Love from Mrs Hurley, Mr Greenfield and Miss Harvey

Y3/4 Blog Monday 6th July 2020

Hello everyone!

We hope you have had a lovely week, and are ready to begin Week 16, yes Week 16 of your Home Learning!

It is lovely to see so many of you accessing Google Classroom and chatting and sharing your awesome work. With this in mind, we would very much like to hear from all of you this week to let us know how you are doing.

Good news, bad news, questions, worries, celebrations and successes, we don't mind what you tell us but we would really love to hear from you.

Our email is year3_4@downhallprimary.com.

Summer Reading Challenge 2020
Every year, our children take part in the Summer Reading Challenge, reading a variety of books over the summer.
The Summer Reading Challenge website is free to access and features games, quizzes and downloadable activities that incentivise and encourage children to take part in reading related activities. Although public library buildings are closed, libraries will continue to deliver the Challenge through virtual services and e-lending platforms. This year, the Challenge continues online at https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk

We hope you enjoy some of the ideas we have for this week, as always PLEASE do not feel that you have to do all of these, or indeed any of them. They are simply there as suggestions to support you and your children at home.

We are now on the countdown to the end of our Summer term. Sadly, our school year has not panned out as we had have hoped. However, we are looking forward to welcoming you all back in September.

Love Mrs Hurley, Mr Greenfield and Miss Harvey
