MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL 🎄

Dear Parents,

Firstly, thank you for your continued support this term, it’s been a challenging one for all of us, but your cooperation and understanding has been really appreciated.

The children have all be so resilient and worked very hard this term, we are extremely proud of you.

HOMEWORK

We will not be setting any formal homework over the Christmas holidays but please could your child continue to read for 15 minutes per day? It would great if they were able to log into MyOn and TTRS if they are able to as well.

CHRISTMAS SONG

We would like to share with you a bit of Christmas cheer. Please log onto Google Classroom later on today to access a recording of our song!

Merry Christmas to you all. Thank you so much for all your kind gifts and words of appreciation.

May 2022 be kinder to us all.

Kind regards, and stay safe!

Year 3/4 Blog Friday 3rd December 2021

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

We hope you have all had a lovely week and are beginning to think about the upcoming Christmas break. Looking ahead to Christmas Jumper Day which will be next Friday, please come to school in regular school uniform (including a tie) wearing a Christmas jumper if you choose to do so. Check out this week's newsletter for more details.

As you will be aware, due to Covid, we are required to keep the classrooms well ventilated.  Therefore, doors and windows are open during the day.  As the weather has decided to take on a wintery feel, we would encourage children to bring coats to school every day. If they would like to wear an extra layer, please encourage them to do so.

This week in Year 3 and 4, the children have enjoyed finishing their letters. In maths we have been reviewing money, measurement and times tables. They have planned a science investigation which we wil be doing in class next week. In project we took a look at the Bronze Age and why it was so much better for Stone Age people.

EMERGENCY SERVICES CENOTAPH

Today we took part in the Unite The Uniforms campaign in honour of the millions of people who have served in the NHS and emergency services. Thank you so much for your kind donations. These will go towards building the UK’s first ‘Emergency Services Cenotaph’.

CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY

Article 28 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child states that "All children have the right to an education".  We take this right very seriously at Down Hall and just over 3 years ago, the School Council chose to raise money to sponsor a child to go to school who currently did not enjoy this right.

We are now in our 4th year of sponsoring Thoko, a girl from Malawi, to go to school.  It is through wearing our Christmas jumpers and making a donation on this day that pays for Thoko's education for the whole year!  So, feel very festive in your Christmas jumper on Friday, but also feel very proud when you make your suggested £1 donation that you are making a massive impact on the life of another child.  You can read an update on our School Council activities here.
