Year 3/4 Blog Thursday 21st October 2021

Dear Parents,

We hope you have all had a lovely week. We are so very proud of all our children. They have all worked really hard and tried their best this term, which is all we ever ask of them.

Thank you to those of you who have booked an appointment with us for tomorrow's Parent/Teacher Consultations. We are very much looking forward to seeing you.

CHRISTMAS CARDS

Your child has bought their artwork home. Please read the accompanying letter and follow the instructions. The artwork must come back to school on the first day back after the holidays  please.

HOMEWORK

We would like you all to enjoy a well deserved rest so we are not setting any formal homework over the holidays.

If your child would like to be a school council representative then please prepare a presentation for your class to share in the first week back. We will be delighted to have a Down Hall School Council for the first time in ages...

HARVEST FESTIVAL
Thank you so much to all of you that have contributed to our Harvest Festival collection this year for South Essex Extended Services.  Every single donation does make a difference and is given to children and families in our own local community that need it the most.

RRS A 27:  Every child has the right to a standard of living good enough to meet their physical, social and mental needs.

Have a wonderful holiday!

Year 3/4 Blog Friday 8th October 2021

Dear Parents,

We hope you have all had a lovely week. Year 3/4 children have been super busy learning all about addition and subtraction and discovering the importance of Black History Month through poetry. In science we have studied fossils and how they are formed.

Parent/Teacher Consultations

You are now able to book an appointment to meet with your child's class teacher on Friday 22nd October, 8:30am to 3:30pm.  Please use the Scopay app to secure your slot.  We will, once again, be using Zoom.  A meeting link will be sent to you nearer the time.

Phase Emails

Please remember, that if you wish to contact your child's class teacher, you can use the phase email.  The address to use for the Year 3/4 teachers is: year 3_4@downhallprimary.com

Your emails will be responded to as soon as possible by a member of staff. This may not be until the following working day (or Monday, if sent after 4pm on Fridays.)

If you wish to inform a teacher of your child's absence, an appointment or a change in drop-off/collection arrangements, please contact the school office rather than the phase emails, as these are not checked regularly during teaching hours.

Finally, please remain courteous and polite to our staff when emailing. Defamatory comments will not be tolerated and will be forwarded to Mrs Nelson.

Harvest Festival

Next week we will be starting our harvest festival collection for the children and families in our own community who might need a helping hand.  There will be a collection box at the gate from next week and any contributions will be greatly appreciated.  Here is the link to our Harvest Festival to get you in the mood!  Harvest Festival Samba

Year 3/4 Blog Friday 1st October 2021

 Dear Parents,

We hope you have all had a lovely week.

This week, in Year 3/4 we have been using the film 'The Avengers' as a stimulus for our writing.  The children are producing some very detailed newspaper reports.

In maths, the children have been learning about greater/less than and also work on numberlines and negative numbers. Our learning of Roman Numerals features in this week's homework and although it is for Year 4 children it would be great to see all Year 3 children give it a go please.

We are still waiting for homework books to arrive.  Hopefully they will be with us next week.

Please remember that with the onset of colder weather, all children need a warm and waterproof coat at all times.
