Year 3/4 Blog Friday 24th September 2021

Dear Parents,

We hope you have all had a lovely week. The children have worked hard and are also managing to have fun at school too!

This week, they have been impressing us with their writing, as well as their scientific knowledge about rocks. They are really enjoying learning about the Stone Age and in particular, how humans interacted with one another

Homework books will be sent home in due course.  Please encourage your child to log on to Google Classroom and read our homework post.

Please remember that all school uniform needs to be labelled with your child's name.  We have already had a number of jumpers and cardigans left behind which are unnamed.

HOMEWORK

Year 3/4  Homework Tasks - Due Friday 1st October
As our homework books have not arrived, we will continue setting your homework on Google Classroom.
Must Do

  • Reading: Remember 15-20 minutes everyday is super important. You will have taken your Reading Record home for your parents to comment on. These will be collected by teachers and checked from time to time. Please make sure you bring your book back when you are finished and your teacher can change it for you. As soon as you are ready you can take a quiz at school. Remember that you need 3 100% scores to move up a level.
  • High Frequency Words - Learn the words specific to your Spelling Group. Practise spelling them out loud and writing them down.
  • Times table practise - this week we are looking at 3’s/4's. Please practise these as we do in school.

Can Do

  • Continue logging on to TTRS, Sumdog and Myon or Big Cat - your logins are stuck in the front cover of your Reading Records.
  • Current Events - we have been looking at newspaper reports. Can you please bring in a piece of news to share with your class. It can be local, national or innternational news but it must be current. Be ready to share your opinion.

Remember you can either type out your homework on a Google document and share it with your teacher or hand write neatly onto paper and bring it into school.
Please ask for help if you are unsure!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Year 3/4 Blogpost - Welcome back!

Dear Parents

We hope you have all had a restful summer and welcome you and your child back to a brand new

school year! Thank you for assisting us in a smooth return to school.

As you are already aware the decision was made to carry on as we were before we broke up

for the summer.

Therefore, the children will still only need their reading book from

home, water bottles and lunch boxes (washable, of any type).

We will be reviewing current arrangements next week so please keep an eye on the school website

as this is where we will let you know when changes will be implemented.

If you have any further questions please email your class email:

year3_4@downhallprimary.com and the appropriate teacher will respond accordingly.

Kind regards,

Mrs Hurley Miss Harvey Mr Greenfield
