Year 3/4 Blog Friday 17th September 2021

Dear Parents,

We hope you have all had a lovely week. The children have worked hard and are getting into the routines of being in Year 3 and 4.

This week, they have been impressing us with their writing, as well as their scientific knowledge about rocks. They are really enjoying learning about the Stone Age and in particular, how humans interacted with one another

Homework books will be sent home in due course.  Children will be expected to complete the pages set by their teacher.  Each week, the pages they are expected to work on will be posted on the blog and on Google Classroom.

Please remember that all school uniform needs to be labelled with your child's name.  We have already had a number of jumpers and cardigans left behind which are unnamed.

HOMEWORK

Year 3/4  Homework Tasks - Friday 17th September

We are hoping that our new homework books arrive next week. In the meantime, we will continue setting your homework on Google Classroom.
Must Do

  • Reading: Remember 15-20 minutes everyday and then discuss the text afterwards, asking for opinions, favourite part or questioning what happened so as to ensure that your child is understanding the text as well as reading it. You will have taken your Reading Record home for your parents to comment on. These will be collected by teachers and checked from time to time. Please make sure you bring your book back when you are finished and your teacher can change it for you.
  • High Frequency Words - Learn the words specific to your Spelling Group. Practise spelling them out loud and writing them down.
  • Times table practise - this week we are looking at 3’s. Show your parents how we do learn our times tables now at Down Hall.

Can Do

  • Continue logging on to TTRS, Sumdog and Myon - your logins are stuck in the front cover of your Reading Records.
  • Design a front cover for our new times table books. The winning entry will be displayed on each book. You can draw it or do it on the computer. Good luck!

Remember you can either type out your homework on a Google document and share it with your teacher or hand write neatly onto paper and bring it into school.
Please ask for help if you are unsure!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mrs Hurley, Miss Harvey & Mr Greenfield
