Times Tables Rock Star Day

On Friday 24th, June the whole school took part in a TTRS day. We dressed up as rock stars and took part in math's activities throughout the day. During our assembly we learnt all about the importance of learning our times tables and how using Times Table Rock Stars can help us. We had a live battle between 2 of our school’s quickest children and even Mrs Hurley and Mr Greenfield got involved. It was amazing to see how fast some children are – but the main message was the importance of accuracy.

We had lots of fun playing TTRS and challenging other classes to battles! We played a game in pairs using dice. We rolled a dice each and multiplied the numbers together to see who was quickest – it was very competitive! We also created our own board games and posters to help us learn our times tables. The children also took part in a Times Table Treasure Hunt which was so much fun!

We all had a great fun filled day learning our times tables in a variety of ways. Congratulations to our winners and to everybody for taking part.

If you are unsure about your child’s TTRS login details, please ask your child’s class teacher for more information.

This week your child has been practising their Times Table Rock Stars in class. We would like all children to continue practising over the next week. The best level to choose is the Studio one which has all the times tables on it. We will be having battles between the classes next week.We are preparing for our TTRS day on Friday 24th June. We would love your child to dress up as a rock star. Hopefully they will be practising for the upcoming battle at home. Don’t forget to ask your teacher for your log in if you don’t already have one.

We have lots of fun activities planned for this day and hope we learn more about the importance of learning our times tables and how using Times Table Rock Stars can help us.

So grab your bandanas, don your wigs and grab your air guitar!

KS2 District Sports

Congratulations to all of the children who have been selected to take part in District Sports next Thursday.  Mr Grey and Mr Attfield had the difficult job of choosing from lots of children who have performed exceptionally well in their PE lessons since Easter.

If your child has been selected, I would like to thank you for how quickly you have all returned letters and requests for programmes.  If you still need to pay for your programme(s), please send the money into school with your child or pay at the office.  I will issue programmes for the children to bring home on Monday.

On the day of the event, children should come into school wearing their PE kits.  Please keep an eye on the weather forecast and send appropriate clothing, a hat, a full water bottle and a packed lunch.

If you have any questions regarding District Sports, please email me on year5_6@downhallprimary.com

Happy Friday, everybody! What a lovely short week we have all enjoyed in Year 3/4.

Sports Day 2022

Sport's Day will be held this year on Friday 8th July! This will be in the morning for KS2 and in the afternoon for KS1. All parents will be able to come and watch this year and there will be a picnic lunch which you can attend as well. There will be further details to follow but we wanted you to have the date in your diary now so you can make plans as need be. We are looking forward to seeing you all there!

TTRS Day

This year, at Down Hall Primary School, we have had a big focus on Times Tables through our Times Table Programme as well as Times Table Rock Stars. These have both helped the children to become more fluent in their times tables.

On Friday 24th June, we would like all staff and pupils to take the opportunity to dress up as rock stars for the day. During this day they will take part in a range of maths activities. It would be great to see as many children and staff engage in the TTRS Battle as possible. Prizes for the best dressed rock star (staff and child) will be handed out. Certificates will also be given to the children who achieve the fastest ‘Studio Speed’ in (according to the leaderboard that morning) We are not asking for a donation to dress up. More details will follow…

District Sports
Miss Sharman and the PE staff are currently selecting children to take part in this year's District Sports event.  It will take place on Thursday 23rd June at 12pm at Garons Park, Southend.

Children in Years 5 and 6 have already been selected.  Children in Years 3 and 4 will be selected during their next PE lesson and will bring letters home on Tuesday.
