Year 3/4 Blog Friday 26th March 2021

Dear Parents,

Well that was the quickest 3 weeks in history! No sooner they were back and now they are gone again. We have throughly enjoyed being back together and all of your children have worked so incredibly hard to adjust back to being in school and the routines that are involved. Next term we will continue to be learning about the Ancient Egyptians. The children are really enjoying this topic and I have to admit it is one of my favourites too!

We have not set any homework over the holidays but would like you to keep up with reading daily and learning your times tables. Both are the foundations of our curriculum and are incredibly important.

Wishing you all a very happy and safe Easter!

Year 3/4 Blog Friday 19th March 2021

Dear Parents,

We have had a really lovely week in Year 3/4. The children have been working extremely hard and are very much enjoying being able to socialise with their peers.

COMIC RELIEF

We have had a fantastic day at school and have raised a lot of money. Thank you for your kind donations. We hope the children enjoyed themselves. We have popped some photos of our special day below for you to look at.

HOMEWORK

Please ensure your child completes the following tasks by next Thursday. Answers will be posted on Google Classroom next Friday.

Maths - Time

Year 3 - page 43

Year 4 - page 50

Reading

Please ensure that your child is reading daily at home. We recommend reading for at least 20 minutes every day. Reading with your child is a lovely way to end the day and gives you both an opportunity to talk about things going on in their world and any problems they may be facing.

Spelling

Below is a link to the year 3 and 4 spellings that the children will be tested on next week. We have been looking at them in class but it would be great if you could have a look through them at home too.

They can be found on Google Classroom here - https://classroom.google.com/u/0/w/MjIwOTQ4MDM5MjY2/t/all

Make sure you all have a chance to relax and take some time out this weekend.

Have a fabulous one and see you Monday for the final week before the Easter holidays!

Year 3/4 Friday 12th March 2021

Dear Parents,

It was with enormous pride that we welcomed back all the children this week. A lot of work behind the scenes has gone into ensuring the school is safe for everyone. Thank you for your continued support and making sure that your child is in school at the correct time. We have had a lovely week here in Year 3/4 with a focus on settling the children back in to our rules and routines. They will be very tired! One thing that we have really enjoyed is seeing children playing outside together. They are having so much fun just being able to run around with all their classmates.

HOMEWORK

Please ensure your child completes the following tasks by next Thursday. Answers will be posted on Google Classroom next Friday.

Year 3 - page 42

Year 4 - page 48/49

Reading

Please ensure that your child is reading daily at home. We recommend reading for at least 20 minutes every day. Reading with your child is a lovely way to end the day and gives you both an opportunity to talk about things going on in their world and any problems they may be facing.

Your children are a real credit to you and our school community. They are the real heroes in all that we have been through. Let us hope that we see a more positive summer ahead.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Year 3/4 Blog - 5th March 2021

Dear Parents,

Another new beginning

We are really looking forward to welcoming all of our children back to school on Monday 8th March. Let us hope that we will be back together for good from this date onwards and that we can slowly begin the journey back to normality. Our return on Monday 8th will be very similar to when children returned at the end of last year. Arrival and departure will be exactly as it was; children will stay in class bubbles during the day and parents will still be asked to maintain social distancing, wear masks when outside the school gates and refrain from visiting the school office.

We will continue to use the same drop off and collection times as follows

Opal - 8:45am-3:10pm

Garnet - 8:50am-3:15pm

Moonstone - 8:55am-3:20pm

Please ensure that you are on time when dropping off/picking up your child. The aim of set times is to continue to reduce contact in our school community.

Here are a few reminders

All adults to wear a mask

Only ONE adult to drop off and collect. Please arrive at your allotted time and leave the area at the school gate immediately

School lunch menu is on our website

Please bring a water bottle and a coat everyday

Children MUST bring in one book to keep in their tray for ERIC and quiet reading time

PE on normal day - Tuesday

New Key Stage 2 Website

We have a new website for KS2 Year 3/4. You can access it from the classes tab on the main website. If you click on the Useful Information tab, you will be able to find the Parent Overview Meeting slides that were sent out at the beginning of the year. There are also instructions for using Google Classroom. There are seperate pages for each of our projects and information about the work being covered. We are currently focusing on Year B Summer Term, which is all about Ancient Egypt. On these pages you will also see some Homework Menus. These are not compulsory but are there as a suggestion for work that could be done outside of school if the children are interested in completing more work. There is also a direct link to our blog. This is a link to the entire feed so it has all the blogs on it. Please have a look and let us know what you think or if you encounter any problems.

World Book Day Vouchers

Your children will be coming home with the annual WBD book voucher. This year a number of the major supermarkets are accepting these vouchers. Please do let us know your experience of using them.

We understand that the children will be very tired as they adjust to the school return and the routines involved. Please be assured that we have always got the children's best interests at heart. We are here to support you, your children and our school community to the best of our ability.

Have a lovely weekend and see you all bright eyed and bushy tailed on Monday morning.
