YEAR 3/4 BLOGPOST - FRIDAY 16th SEPTEMBER 2022

Dear Parents,

We hope you have all had a lovely week. The children have worked hard and are also managing to have fun at school too!

This week, they have been impressing us with their writing, as well as their scientific knowledge about Forces. They are really enjoying learning about the Romans and in particular, what it took to become a Roman soldier.

Homework books will be sent home next Friday. Please encourage your child to log on to Google Classroom and read our homework post.

Please remember that all school uniform needs to be labelled with your child's name.  We have already had a number of jumpers and cardigans left behind which are unnamed.

Following the passing of Her Majesty, the school will be closed on Monday 19th September due to the State Funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

OVERVIEW MEETING

Thank you to all those who were able to attend on Monday. Please don't worry if you were unable to make the meeting as you should have got all the information now that we shared. If you have any questions about the notes from the meeting, please just pop and ask us.

HOMEWORK AND GOOGLE CLASSROOM
Google Classroom is an essential part of your child's learning journey here at Down Hall. It is a place where the children can access their homework as well as sharing any learning that they have been doing at home. This week we have set homework on Google Classroom. Your child will need to access their homework from Google Classroom. They have been shown how to do this in class.
Please make sure your child has logged in to their Google account.
Once you are logged in it will take you to the Learning Hub. You will need to click on the Classroom icon. Then you should have access to the Year 3/4 Google Classroom 2022-23. Here you will find this week's homework tasks. Next week, your child will be bringing home homework books.
Year 3/4  Homework Tasks - Friday 16th September     Due: Thursday 22nd September
Must Do
  • Reading: Remember 15-20 minutes reading to an adult at least 3 times per week and then discuss the text afterwards, asking for opinions, favourite part or questioning what happened so as to ensure that your child is understanding the text as well as reading it. Shortly, you will be able to take a Reading Record home for your parents to comment on. These will be collected by teachers and checked from time to time.
  • High Frequency Words - Learn the words specific to your year Group. Practice spelling them out loud and writing them down. The year 3/4 spellings are located in the middle your child's reading record book.
  • Times table practice - next week we are looking at 2’s. Show your parents how we learn our times tables now at Down Hall Primary School. Times Table Parent Workshops will take place in school later this term.
Can Do
  • Play Sumdog and TTRS
  • What are your favourite family memories of Queen Elizabeth II? Please write or draw them and don't forget to let us know if you make the journey to London to see The Queen at the Palace of Westminster.
Remember, you can either type out your homework on a Google document and share it with your teacher or handwrite neatly onto paper and bring it into school.
Please ask for help if you are unsure.

Have a lovely weekend and we will see you Tuesday morning,
Mrs Hurley, Miss Harvey & Mr Greenfield
