Year 3/4 Blogpost 15.07.22

Happy Friday, everybody, and welcome to the last blog for this academic year! It has been an absolute pleasure to teach such a lovely group of children and we are so very proud of each and every one of them! We wish them all the very best on their next steps of their educational journey.

YEAR 3/4 EMAIL

Our emails will not be checked regularly from Wednesday 20th July until 1st September.

PHASE GROUP EMAILS
Please remember that if your child is moving classes then a new email address will be your point of contact. If your child is moving into Year 3 or Year 4 then our email is:

year3_4@downhallprimary.com

If your child is moving up to Year 5 then your point of contact is:

year 5_6@downhallprimary.com

HOMEWORK

Whilst no official homework has been set, it might be an idea to get your child to read regularly and log on to TTRS and Sumdog occasionally. As well, it is still not too late to enter the Summer Reading Challenge - details are on the bookmark bought home by each child.

LOOKING AHEAD TO SEPTEMBER

If you have any particular questions about next year, please ask rather than worry about these over the summer. It might be a good idea if your child is entering Year 3 to have a look at the Year 3/4 class pages of our website to see the overview of learning that will be covered.

HOT WEATHER

As I am sure you are all aware, the forecast for next week is for very high temperatures. You may send your child into school in their PE kit on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as it might help them feel more comfortable during the day.

We will also be making some capacity for children to spend some time inside at lunch times if they wish to avoid becoming too overheated. Please ensure that children come to school each day with a sun hat, a bottle of cool water and sun cream already applied.

To help us all cool down, the fabulous PTA will be selling ice creams after school on Wednesday!

BOOK COLLECTION

All children have handed in their reading diaries. We will pass these on to their next class teacher so they are ready to be re-issued in September.

The children's school work books are all handed up also - current book and most recent completed book. These completed books are sent home after the October half term.

Thank you to all of you who have supported us this year. It has been a pleasure to teach your children and we are grateful to you for your kind words. Wishing you a very happy and calm summer ahead.

Remember: children return to school on Monday 5th September.

Much love,

Mrs Hurley, Mr Greenfield & Miss Harvey
