Year 3/4 Blog Friday 12th November 2021

Dear Parents,

We hope you have all had a lovely week. We have had a super busy week in Year 3/4 and next week looks even busier! If you are currently self-isolating at home, we wish you all better and cannot wait to see you in school soon!

Here are a few messages that you need to know...

Friday 19th November 2021

This year to celebrate Children in Need, we will be having a pyjama day at school on Friday 19th November. Children can wear their favourite PJs to school, however please remember that all children still need to wear sensible outdoor shoes so that they will be safe going outside, and to also bring a coat.

The children will be taking part in fun activities during the day, with prizes and rewards to be won. Suggested donation is £1 per child to raise money for such a great cause, but you can give more if you wish. There will be a bucket for donations at the gate during morning drop off.

Children in Need has strong links to our work on SMSC and RRS.  We will be looking at the charities that Children in Need supports and making specific links to the Spiritual and Social threads of SMSC and to the following RRS Articles :

Article 1: All children under 18 have all the rights in the convention.

Article 23: Any child with a disability must be provided with support so they can live as fully and independently as possible.

Article 27: All children have the right to a good standard of living which meets their physical, social and mental needs.

We thank you for taking part and can’t wait to see everyone in their favourite PJs!  If you want to find out more you can check out all of the information here.

Year 3/4  Homework Tasks - Due Wednesday 17th November

Must Do

  • Reading: Remember 15-20 minutes everyday is super important. You will have taken your Reading Record home for your parents to comment on. These will be collected by teachers and checked from time to time. Please make sure you bring back your Homework books by Wednesday of the following week.

HOMEWORK PAGES
Year 3    English Homophones  Maths  Written Subtraction
Year 4    English Tricky Homophones  Maths  Written Subtraction

  • Accelerated Reader - when you are finished your book your teacher can change it for you. As soon as you are ready you can take a quiz at school. Remember that you need 3 100% scores to move up a level
  • Times table practise - this week we are looking at 5'/6's. Please practise these as we do in school.

Can Do

  • Write a story about how your family commemorates Remembrance Day. Do you have any relatives who fought in the war? Perhaps you have got medals that have been passed down. Submit as a Google document please.
  • Continue logging on to TTRS, Sumdog and Myon or Big Cat - your logins are stuck in  the front cover of your Reading Records.

REMEMBRANCE DAY

The children all took part in a variety of classroom activities to commemorate Remembrance Day. We sat respectfully for a 2 minutes silence at 11am. We also learned about the poppy and its significance.

This year we are covering ‘Celebrating our Differences’ in PSHE. In light of this, we would like to participate in ‘Odd Socks Day’ to celebrate Anti-Bullying Week.

There is no pressure to buy the latest fashion or buy expensive costumes. All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks, it could not be simpler! The theme is ‘One Kind Word’ so we will be linking our work to the Rights in the UNCRC. The children will design their odd socks and then place a kind word on their sock to share with their peers.

A24:  Every child has the right to the best possible health, including mental health.

A1:  Children’s rights apply to all children, everywhere, all the time.

Please stay safe and have a wonderful weekend!

Mrs Hurley, Miss Harvey & Mr Greenfield
