Y 3/4 Blogpost 20.05.22

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

We hope you have had a lovely week. With sunnier weather coming, please can the children bring a sunhat into school and also apply suncream before school. Children should bring in a bottle of plain water in a named drink container. Please ensure your child's jumper or cardigan is named so we know who to return it to should it be left outside.

LIBRARY VISIT

Next week each class will be walking up to Rayleigh Library. Details were sent out last week. We have not received letters advising that any children are not allowed to go so we will take it that ALL children will be walking there.

ASSESSMENT WEEK

This week the children have taken part in assessments covering maths, Reading, GPS and spelling. The progress they have made since September is amazing and we feel so very proud of the effort that they are all making. Well done to each and every one of you!

Must Do
  • Reading: Remember 15-20 minutes everyday is super important. You will have taken your Reading Record home for your parents to comment on. These will be collected by teachers and checked regularly. Please bring your homework books back to school when you are finished so that we can check them. Thank you.
  • Please make sure that your child is continuing to read and work on the Year 3 and 4 spellings which can be found in their reading record books.
  • Accelerated Reader - when you are finished your book your teacher can change it for you. As soon as you are ready you can take a quiz at school. Remember that you need 3 100% scores to move up a level
Can Do
  • Continue logging on to TTRS and Sumdog
  • Math's - Year 4 will be completing their statutory Multiplication Tables Check in June this year. To this end, please can you ensure your child is regularly accessing and practicing these at: https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/477/Multiplication-Tables-Check
  • Queen Elizabeth II will be celebrating her Platinum Jubilee in June 2022. This marks 70 years of The Queen being on the throne. In order to celebrate this special occasion, a competition is being held to invent a new pudding and you have been invited to create your own design.  Did you know...? The recipe for Coronation chicken was created in 1953, by florist Constance Spry and chef Rosemary Hume, to celebrate the coronation of Elizabeth II. It is believed to be inspired by the ‘Jubilee Chicken’, which was created for George V’s Silver Jubilee in 1935.
Please draw a picture and give us the name of your pudding. You can include the recipe too either as a Google document or handwritten. We look forward to seeing your creations!

Have a lovely weekend!

Kind regards

Mrs Hurley, Miss Harvey & Mr Greenfield
